Bank Negara Malaysia is the central bank of Malaysia, a statutory body established in 1959 and now governed by the Central Bank of Malaysia Act 2009. Its mandate is to promote monetary and financial stability conducive to sustainable growth of the Malaysian economy, covering monetary policy, financial regulation and supervision, payment systems and currency issuance. It is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur with a staff strength of 3,543 at end-2024 and runs the Kijang Graduate Programme for early-career hires.
